A national network of public fast chargers for heavy electric trucks is opening in Sweden. The charging network is powered by renewable energy. A new service from Volvo Trucks makes it easy for haulers to find and access the charging stations.

World-first: Volvo delivers electric trucks with fossil-free steel to customers
As the world’s first truck manufacturer to do so, Volvo has begun using fossil-free steel in its trucks. The first electric trucks with fossil-free steel are now being delivered to customers.
Volvo Trucks are running tests of fuel cell electric trucks that only emit water vapour and have an operational range comparable to diesel trucks, up to 1,000 km. A second pilot phase is to follow in a few years’ time and will see customer tests on public roads.
Volvo Trucks unveiled a completely new, fully electric rear axle at the IAA transport show in Hannover, Germany. Freeing up space for more batteries, the new e-axle means even longer range for Volvo’s battery electric trucks.

Break-through: Volvo Trucks starts series production of heavy electric trucks
As the first global truck manufacturer to do so, Volvo Trucks is now starting series production of heavy electric, 44 tonne* trucks.
And the winner is…..The winning team at the world´s largest service market competition, VISTA*, has now been selected. After a thrilling final in Volvo’s hometown of Gothenburg, Sweden, team Kiired Insenerid from Estonia came out on top.
Imagine a truck that only emits water vapor, produces its own electricity onboard and has a range of up to 1 000 km. It’s possible with fuel cells powered by hydrogen, and Volvo Trucks has started to test vehicles using this new technology.
As the world’s first truck manufacturer to do so, Volvo is now introducing fossil-free steel in its trucks. The steel is produced by the Swedish steel company SSAB and the heavy-duty electric Volvo trucks will be the first to include it.

Volvo Trucks is supplying a fully electric truck to Sweden’s leading grocery retailer, ICA Sweden, as it begins its transition towards electric transport. The truck will deliver refrigerated goods in the Stockholm city area. Apart from being fossil free, the vehicle will contribute to significantly reduced noise levels and air pollution.
